Candidates may participate in the ESL and/or bilingual/bicultural track while completing another endorsement area through the Kreyco Alternate Route Program. These tracks are intended to provide foundational knowledge and preparation related to multilingual learners and bilingual/bicultural education while candidates work toward their primary certification area. After completing the program and obtaining a standard license (typically after a minimum of two school years), candidates may pursue the additional state-required coursework through an approved New Jersey college or university (15 credits for ESL or 12 credits for bilingual/bicultural certification). These tracks do not replace the institutional coursework required for endorsement eligibility. Candidates who only hold a CE or Limited CE in ESL are not eligible for admission, and these tracks are not intended for individuals who already hold a CEAS or Standard license.
